Jamie Smith - Youth Football Exeter Devon

Is it too soon to promote myself?  Probably not, I've always wanted football and still do, it's my daily life and I live and dream about it!

Yes I may come from Exeter Devon and not in a big city where I hear success stories but if I work hard I can make it, it's about my own belief.

It all started when I was 5 or 6 and I kick a football daily; what makes me different is my left foot!  The picture you see above is Summer 2009, I had just joined Kentisbeare Colts football club (Devon) and we were runners up in the Moors Youth Football Club Summer Tournament held in Tiverton, it was a beautiful trophy and a proud day with my team mates. Kentisbeare colts will be a challenge as it's a new team for me this season.

Trophies this season - Best Newcomer 2009/2010, runner up penalty shoot out trophy (7/8 on target!).

Jamie Smith is the third Cousin of Guyana player Gerald Teixeira and is the 5th cousin of Alan Sunnucks who played for Sutton United in 1950's.

My football Profile: I shall play for the under 11's this season and league rules will change with 9-a-side, this will be interesting.  I train on a Thursday evening with my club Kentisbeare Colts.  I am part of the Elite Advanced Development Centre (selected 30th September 2007) I hope to continue to train with them although the Exeter Centre has now closed.

I have played in a variety of positions from 'defence' to 'left midfield'; I am strong in the centre and will adapt to positons of play this season to get the job done.  I am working hard on my stamina and fitness.

I have also joined the football club at my school, we will be playing other local clubs in the area.

To compliment I also play badminton, ranked Devon number 4 (under 11's) 2009/2010, I love sports but to be a professional footballer is my dream.

My Best Football Experiences: A very proud moment was receiving an achievement trophy on the pitch at half-time from 'then' Exeter City player Dean Moxy, what a fantastic day being a mascot, meeting both Exeter City Football Club Manager Paul Tisdale and having a photograph with Steve Perryman.

I was very lucky to have a day at the 'David Beckham Academy' in London and probably this was one of the best moments in my life!

It gave a real feel to football life and meeting Mrs Sandra Beckham and having a photo with her at the end of the day was a special moment.  You can see me collecting my momento from Sandra Beckham.

My favourite football team is Chelsea fc and I love watching players like Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and John Terry.  I have been to their home ground and watched matches; recently I met Ray Wilkins and have his autograph. I have also meet Ron 'Chopper' Harris and Peter Bonetti 'The Cat'. My Grandad used to have a hospitality box at Chelsea FC and my Dad has memories going there as a child.

Football remains a part of our family. I am related to 4 professional footballers and hope that I have inherited their talent.

'My sponsor' is Martins Cleaning Services Ltd, Exeter sponsor my local club Exeter City FC and have enjoyed hospitality at the club.

I would welcome any opportunities available to progress my football including academy standard, if you would like to help me I am sure my coach at Kentisbeare would like to hear from you. Alternatively you may contact my sponsors who will pass any relevant information to the correct party.

I have the full support of my family, friends and coaches and will always work hard within my football and be prepared to train to the highest standard required.
